Since opening our doors in 2008, with a workforce of two, Designa has developed into one of Dorset’s most reputable, family run businesses, with two stunning showrooms and a growing team of talented individuals. Our pride reflects in everything we do, from your initial design consultation, throughout the installation process, to our after-care support.

Russell Sandrey
Director
With over 30 years’ experience, Russell, our director and chief designer, has a plethora of knowledge under his belt, making him one of the most respected designers in Dorset. His “no nonsense” attitude ensures that every member of the team works with the same finesse as himself, to guarantee a high level of work in everything we do. The big cheese!
Abigail Sandrey
Design & Sales Manager
Following in her father’s footsteps, Abi joins her Dad to complete our design team. Since joining the family business in 2014, she’s already gained a lot of useful experience and knowledge, which will prove valuable for years to come. Her designs reflect her naturally creative flare, promising her a successful career. A chip off the old block!
Mark Sandrey
Installation Manager
Son-in-law no.1, Mark a.k.a. Stretch, has been with Designa since the start. He leads our installation team, ensuring that all projects run as smoothly and efficiently as possible, whilst encouraging our fitters and imparting priceless knowledge and experience. Continually proving his mastery of our trade, there’s not much that Stretch can’t do, making him an irreplaceable part of the business. He’s part of the furniture!
Yvonne Morgan
Showroom Assistant
Yvonne joined us in early 2019 to help maintain the working order of our showrooms. She offers a warm smile and an approachable attitude to anyone that walks through our doors, and will assist you with any enquiry. Visit us, and she’ll be happy to guide you around the showroom over a hot cuppa!
Adam Anstey
Fitter
Son-in-law no.2, Adam, joined Designa as an apprentice back in 2010. Since successfully completing his course, he’s proved himself to be an essential part of the team, with a growing set of skills. With an eagerness to continue learning, Adam works hard to make his work the best it can be, already setting himself high above the typical fitter. His on-site singing skills aren’t bad either!
Kevin Welch

Kev joined our team in December 2017, bringing with him over 30 years of experience in the trade. Passion and pride – Kev genuinely loves what he does, which shows in all of his work. We don’t only value his outstanding level of work; his silly sense of humour and ever-present smile brightens up the whole office, making him a pleasure to work with. A true craftsman.
Chris Legg
Fitter
Chris a.k.a. Leggy, is the newest member of our impressive team. He also brings with him a very high level of long term experience, adding to our extensive skill set. His clean and professional work style, salt of the earth personality, and his banter with the team make him an easy addition to the business. The best team just got better!
Michael Suttie
Fitter
‘Walkabout Mick’ joined Designa in late 2020, taking our installation team to the lucky number 7! Originally from Australia, Mick fell in love with Britain during a two year working trip, and later decided to leave his life Down Under for a new one in Dorset! He brings with him over 20 years of experience in all aspects of carpentry and joinery, increasing the impressive set of skills Designa has to offer. He may have left the sunshine of Melbourne, but he certainly brings the sunshine to the office every morning, as he greets every member of the team with a warm “how ya going mate?” – and we love it!
Ryan Welch
Apprentice
Shortly after completing his GCSE’s, Ryan joined our team to follow in the footsteps of his Dad, Kevin. His natural skill in carpentry, and his ongoing college studies in plumbing, matched with his eagerness to learn, are going a long way to secure him a prosperous and successful career. Keep up the good work, Ryry!
Jaiden Sandrey
Apprentice
Jai joined his Dad, Grandad, and Auntie at Designa in 2020, making us a four generation family business! He’s taken to his work like a duck to water, with an inspiring enthusiasm to get stuck in to every task set for him, and a willing to learn as much as he can. With the addition of his weekly College days, he is quickly becoming an invaluable asset to the team. He does seem to have also adopted Micks Australian accent, which keeps both customers and colleagues entertained on a rainy day!

I’m very happy with the workmanship and the hard work, good humour and politeness of the crew, namely Mick, Jay, Mark, Tommy and the other pop-in lads. They made being kitchen-less for three weeks seem almost a joy!?
Thank you for a beautiful new study/office. You have probably exceeded our expectations and our books and other items that have been stored away for the last two years have found a home. We now have more room than we had before the transformation yet everything now is in its rightful place. Great design. Particular thanks to Mick for doing a marvellous job. There were a number of instances when things weren’t working out exactly as could be expected but he liaised with us as soon as the problems manifested themselves and a mini site meeting resolved the issue. He was a perfectionist, a trait best suited to his craft and we’ve got the distinct impression that if we had asked one of the big corporates to do the job the end result would have been quite different. Once again, many thanks.
We are thrilled with the wardrobes and chests of drawers etc. Chris worked really hard and was a pleasure to have around. We will certainly recommend you to others here on the development.
Just wanted to say a quick thank you for fitting the mirrors and sorting the other bits out. We are staying in the house at the moment and we absolutely love the new kitchen and bathrooms. They’re so much lighter and brighter and the kitchen is a far better design than the previous one, making it seem a lot bigger! You were really helpful with the design process Russell and it was great to know you were on the end of the phone to help with any queries. It’s always nice to work with lovely people!
